Gadija (Bey) Gamieldien

Founder & Chief Executive Cook with 20+years experience in business. I’ve been involved in Book Club Membership models, nearly 15 years of ecommerce, a little bit of magazine retail, tons of data analysis and most importantly home cook and food fanatic for 23+ years.

Some of my achievements include attending the Naspers Harvard Program, completing the Executive Media Management program at University of Stellenbosch and being the first recipient of the SA Mbokodo Woman of the year award in the category Fashion Innovation. Innovation and Reinventing oneself is key and innovation is rapidly transforming the food industry.The way we access food is changing, whether it’s your favourite recipe streamed online or home delivered from the burgeoning on demand food delivery services.

I am relentless in pursuit of what’s next on the menu and always on the hunt for a great crème brulee.

Mymoena Bey

Chief Data Officer, Chief Mother and Chief Wife… I have 15+ years experience in telling people what to do, how to do it and I am awesome at it.

I have a wealth of experience and expertise in the ecommerce space, which I gained at South Africa’s leading online giant, Kalahari.com – A pioneer of their day. I made an appearance at Takealot.com as their Head of Quality & Site Navigation and had an awesome time in Media and Publicity writing at SA’s private broadcaster – e.TV. I have had the opportunity to share my passion for food on local radio station, Voice of Cape’s recipe segment.

So…I am definitely a behind the scenes type of person – passionate about Data Management, Data Modelling, Content, Copy and the Quality thereof. This drives my passion for food and the kitchen – everything is down to a science with correct formulations, proper storage, racking, display and mixing of relevant ingredients & components.

Always keeping it fresh – out with the old & in with the new! Call me your “non-conventional librarian with a bit of modelling on the side!”

 

Ismail Jamodien

The resident “Data Kid” – with 6+ years experience in Product Data Administration and Data Integrity in the eCommerce Industry. I now find myself as the only male working behind the scenes at CookHalaal. I am fanatical about rugby, yes the best sport in the world. You won’t find me in the kitchen unless it’s checking to see what’s in the fridge or putting my dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. I am in awe of how food has evolved and how important food styling is, yes I said “food styling”! Pretty soon I will be the best kind of theoretical chef there is!

 

A big shout out, high 5’s and fist bumps to THE most amazing team of students and freelancers who virtually cooked up a storm and assisted us in getting our digital kitchen up and running. Your support and efforts were awesome!
